Don’t exactly know

what color you want?

If you are like many you may be confused by what the differences from color to hilights to a balayage are, we dedicated this page to answering your mysteries before deciding a lightening technique, a tone, and the time to make your reservation.

Lift and Deposit

Essentially most forms of hair coloring is broken down in 2 stages, the products open the cuticle and remove your natural pigment from the cortex of your hair, this is called the lift stage. When your hair has some void of pigment that is when the color of choice made between you and your stylist are applied and voila the end result is the natural pigments that are left mixed with the color, this reinsertion of pigment is called deposit. If you have dark hair and ever wondered why your hair couldn’t achieve a lighter tone shown in swatches or images on store box color is that you must safely remove enough natural pigment and choose a balancing color to get the desired results.

Coloring vs Bleaching

Q: Which one is for me? A: It depends on your goal.

Permanent colors have lift and deposit within them so because of the dual action the most change your going to get is 1 to 2 levels lighter. If you looking for a dramatic change lightening seperates the 2 processes so that we can manage at which point the hair needs to be lifted to in order to deposit our custom mixed tone to get your desired results. If you looking to darken, just want a slight bump in tone, or covering grays a full color is suggested for your first Every Piece Salon experience. If you are looking for more color effect scroll down to our lightening section.
